Frances Urbancic

Fran grew up in Chardon, Ohio and from a young age enjoyed being outside playing volleyball, skiing, and running. Camping was ironically one of her least favorite activities, and she would even go to the trouble of trying to bribe a sibling or two to stay home from family camping trips so she wouldn’t have to go. This changed when Fran went to college at Wyoming Catholic College in the fall of 2019. As a freshman, she was thrown into the first of many outdoor trips—
the mandatory freshman 21-day backpacking trip. This trip was the first step in Fran’s journey to falling in love with the outdoors. Over her time at school, she pursued the outdoor leadership track. It was a place where she could rest and recharge from the rigorous academic challenges at Wyoming Catholic College. About halfway through college, Fran went on her first whitewater rafting trip and discovered her love for whitewater. She has pursued this and has started guiding
river trips. In addition to rafting, Fran really enjoys canyoneering and backpacking. With over 200 field days and being WFR and CPR certified, Fran has led numerous trips for COR as one of their professional field instructors including the 21-day trip twice. Following graduation from college, Fran decided to continue working for COR as a fulltime COR Missionary instructor. She is excited to continue bringing people into the outdoors and share the love of Christ with them.
