Originally from Connecticut, Melissa grew up going to national parks with her family and discovered her love of all things outdoors. Before going to college, she completed a 30-day backpacking course with the National Outdoor Leadership School in Wyoming’s Wind River Range. After earning a Mechanical Engineering degree at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, she spent nearly 10 years as a mechanical engineer, working on medical devices and outdoor recreational equipment. Along side her career, Melissa spent her free time leading outdoor ministry for her Catholic young adult group in Seattle. It was at this point she wanted to combine her passions for the outdoors and nurturing others’ faith, and feels blessed to have found her way to COR.

When Melissa isn’t in the backcountry being inspired by God’s creation, she enjoys repairing gear, making rosary bracelets from paracord, and playing with dogs.
