Join us for a 70-hour course that can take you from having no wilderness medicine experience to being a fully certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) in just 10 days.

About the Course

Graduates from the course earn their WFR certification through SOLO as well as a certification in CPR through the American Red Cross. The WFR certification is valid for 3 years and is transferable with certifications from NOLS Wilderness Medicine (WMI) or Wilderness Medical Associates. The WFR is the standard professional medical certification across the outdoor industry. It is a pertinent certification for anyone who is an avid outdoor enthusiast and is essential for anyone looking to become an instructor or guide for any professional organization such as COR Expeditions, Outward Bound, NOLS, and countless others.

What to Know

The Wilderness First Responder Course is for men and women ages 17 and older, and takes place at Wyoming Catholic College in Lander, Wyoming.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from Lander, WY. The nearest airport is located in Riverton, WY, about 45 minutes from Lander. Other airports popular with those travelling to Lander include Jackson Hole, WY; Casper, WY; Salt Lake City, UT; or Denver, CO.

COR Expeditions does not provide lodging for this course. Lander has several hotel and Airbnb options and free camping is available in City Park.

Meals for the duration of the course are provided at the college cafeteria for an additional cost.

Cost of the Course

$700 per person - includes the certification fee and all course materials. Meals at the cafeteria are an additional $200 for the duration of the course.
